The information supplied in the configuration details below is based upon BMGS field
tests and does not represent the views of the manufacturer or its representatives. This
information is provided solely for the purpose of assisting CDGPS users. Please consult
your GPS receiver User's Manual and/or Dealer for more complete instructions on
using the features of your GPS receiver.
| Configuration Tested: |
Trimble Pathfinder Pro XL Power: 2 external camcorder batteries. Firmware: ver. 3.08. |
| Data Logger: |
Corvallis Microtechnology MC-V Power: Internal Ni-Cd power supply. Firmware: 3.02. |
| Data Input/Output Port: |
Supplied cable. |
| Supplied RTCM Cable: |
RTCM cable with a DB9M connector. |
| Cable & Connectors Used in BMGS Testing: |
Requires a DB9F to DB9F gender changer (available through electronic supply dealers) to connect to CDGPS. |
| Antenna: |
- Trimble's external dome GPS antenna.
- In one test configuration the GPS antenna
mounted on a supplied 2' Trimble range-pole
was located in the small Trimble soft-backpack
for which there is a supplied antenna loop. The
CDGPS receiver was placed inside the backpack
and the DGPS antenna was mounted on the
BMGS range pole (manufactured from PVC pipe)
which was then placed inside a backpack pouch
(a second loop was not available) and affixed to
the backpack.
- In most testing though, Trimble's rigid framepack
with additional mounting loops for the
DGPS antenna was used. This is a better
backpack for DGPS work as it is sturdier, there
are proper antenna mounts for both antennae
and, as such, antennae maintain their verticality
better.

| RTCM Reception Indication: |
- Indication of incoming RTCM data stream is
noted on the MC-V Asset Surveyor's GPS Status
Line at the bottom of the screen. When RTCMPageFor information on CDGPS connectivity issues please call (250) 356-7091 or send an
e-mail to Vern Vogt, P.Eng
corrected positions are being collected by the
Pro XL receiver, the Asset Surveyor will indicate
this fact by displaying an "R" on the GPS status
line, in place of the "#" character. Data Collection
is indicated by a spinning indicator graphic on
the screen.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: During dynamic data
logging, the indicator on the GPS Status Line for
the number of fixes collected overwrites the "R"
indicator, thus requiring that the user check the
GPS Status Screen.
|
| Post Mission Data Access: |
Data analysis and viewing done via PFINDER ver.
3.00 software.
- Data that has been corrected in real-time by
RTCM data is tagged with an "R" or corrected
flag. This correction flag is distinguishable from
Uncorrected and Post-Mission corrected data
which are flagged as follows:
__U = Uncorrected;
R__C = Real-Time Corrected; and
__C = Post Mission Corrected.
- Data can be filtered as such (using these flags).
- Individual positions for Generic point features are
accessible and viewable.
|
| General Notes: |
- Refer to Pro XL System Manual and the Asset
Surveyor Datalogging Manual which clearly
detail connectivity and software setting issues
with respect to Real-Time DGPS.

GeoExplorer handy, link to the Trimble tTIP

common questions about Trimble products.
